Advancing responsible access for those who served

Service members and veterans often face obstacles when seeking care for conditions shaped by military service. SHA raises awareness of these challenges and advocates for responsible access to evidence-based, clinician-directed care, including personalized medicine when clinically appropriate.

Personalized medicine

Personalized medicine may be part of clinician-directed care. These approaches should be considered only under the direction of licensed healthcare professionals, and their appropriateness depends on the individual patient, condition, evidence base, and available standard treatments.

For some service members and veterans dealing with complex, service-connected health conditions, personalized medicine may be considered when standard approaches are insufficient, unavailable, or poorly tolerated.

Servicemember Health Alliance supports research, education, and policy discussions that protect responsible access to evidence-based, clinician-directed care for service members and veterans.
